Participating in the top-ranking panel discussion on the role of women in the transformation to a circular economy "Women driving the circular economy transformation" was one of the highlights of 2021 for Forum Director Karin Huber-Heim. Just as in the area of sustainable finance, women play a key role here internationally, but it will take all parts of society to achieve the transformation of our system at the necessary speed.
Under the moderation of Dr Nicole De Paula, an informative discussion took place.
Discussion on the role of women in the transformation to a circular economy! The most important points are:
1. more stories of female leadership were brought forward. Sharing their stories and their successes is key to developing the circular economy solutions we need! We need to show that we can accelerate the path to a circular economy through more inclusivity and diversity.
2. there is no answer to climate change if gender equality is not addressed! Half of the population must not be excluded from the decision-making process.
3. companies, think tanks, NGOs and legislators must generate more collaborations with each other in order to bring about successful solutions. Policymakers must take better account of the environmental, financial, production and consumer perspectives.
4 Sustainable products must become the new normal. We must therefore make them more accessible and create the right framework conditions to drive innovation and sustainable solutions.
A big thank you to Women Leaders for Planetary Health for collaborating on this very interesting webinar.
