How can Circular Economy contribute to sustainability in SMEs

In what is now the 12th web seminar in the Circular Economy series organised by UmweltCluster Bayern & the Bavarian Chambers of Industry and Commerce, around 60 participants were given an insight into the topic of "How can Circular Economy contribute to sustainability in SMEs" on 7 December 2021.

Together with Sabrina Schröpfer, Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, and Doris Raßhofer, Gugler GmbH, Karin Huber-Heim, Executive Director of the Circular Economy Forum Austria, gave an impulse on the topic of "How circular thinking enables SMEs to operate sustainably", with the key findings:

• The circular economy is not just a technical change in processes and products, but above all a change in a fundamental system and way of thinking! From linear thinking to thinking in cycles.
• The circular economy is a major and concrete lever for achieving sustainability goals.
• Sustainable action in a non-sustainable system is often associated with disadvantages, especially if you go it alone. It is therefore important to look for partners who also want to embark on the journey and walk the path together. Cooperation and trust are essential for transformation.
• In a linear system/with linear thinking in a company, it is only possible to formulate and implement individual sustainability goals. A holistic transformation towards a sustainable company is only possible in a regenerative, circular system/ in a company that thinks in cycles.
