The UNIDO report on the circular economy describes how this type of economy uses resources more efficiently and minimises waste - in contrast to the linear economy, which leads to resource scarcity and environmental pollution. The circular economy, on the other hand, aims to make products more durable, repair, reuse and recycle them. This creates both environmental and economic benefits.
UNIDO supports this transformation through programmes such as "Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production" (RECP), which contribute to the reduction of production costs and environmental pollution in countries such as Serbia and Tunisia. Projects such as the development of eco-industrial parks in China show that considerable savings and environmental protection can be achieved through cooperation between companies.
