Monika Auer is Secretary General of the ÖGUTwhich is active at the interface between applied research and the implementation of innovations. Innovative construction, energy and resources are ÖGUT's focal points, supplemented by intensive work on public participation, gender & diversity and the topic of sustainable financial markets ("green finance").
The scarcity of natural resources will be the future challenge for economic and social development. In order to safeguard the quality of life and material prosperity in the long term, an absolute reduction in the use of raw materials is required, i.e. an efficiency revolution in relation to resources. This means converting the linear economic system to an extensive circular economy, promoting renewable raw materials and a more conscious approach to consumer goods in general.
In the area of resources, ÖGUT supports strategy processes and stakeholder dialogues, networks national and international players and provides impetus for innovative and resource-efficient production processes and technologies as well as for the expanded use of renewable raw materials. Another important focus is the transfer of knowledge on the circular economy, bio-based industry, bioeconomy and climate-friendly consumption.
The transition to a circular economy is such a far-reaching change that it can only succeed if everyone pulls together. This requires expertise, an exchange of experience and support at all levels - from consumers and companies to decision-makers in politics and administration. That is why we are partners in the joint Circular Economy Forum Austria.
