Interreg project Cradle-ALP: Transition paths for industry

The Alpine region has many natural resources and the technologies to replace fossil raw materials and toxic substances from production with circular and environmentally friendly alternatives. This can help to ensure that materials and products can be returned to a healthy cycle after use. 

Completed at the end of 2025 Interreg project Cradle-ALP Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) approaches for circular design and circular substitutions (in the Alpine region) were developed for currently linear products in industrial processes. The project focussed on the substitution of chemical and fossil/non-sustainable materials with circular, sustainable and biodegradable materials.

The results included. 

• C2C roadmaps for the wood/furniture, composites, packaging, chemicals/materials and textiles sectors 
• an overview of suitable tools - Toolkit for C2C transformation and
• a LCA guide for beginners
