Together for a circular future.

The European Green Deal

The European Green Deal is a new growth strategy for the European Union. The aim is to lead the EU to climate neutrality by 2050, protect the environment and improve citizens' health while promoting competitiveness and economic growth. Some critics are calling for the deal to include more systemic goals.

The Green Deal includes numerous measures, including the promotion of clean energy, the renovation of buildings to improve energy efficiency, the promotion of sustainable and smart mobility and support for the circular economy. It emphasises the need to use all policy levers, including regulation, investment and innovation, to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy. The Commission plans to propose a European climate law by 2020 that sets out the conditions for a fair and predictable transition and ensures that the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 is enshrined in law.

In addition to decarbonising the energy system and promoting sustainable mobility and construction, the Green Deal provides for the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems. The report also emphasises the importance of international cooperation to tackle the global challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
