The annex to the European Green Deal (EGD) outlines the roadmap and the most important measures of the EGD. Key objectives are the introduction of a European climate law that establishes climate neutrality and the raising of the EU climate target for 2030 to at least 50%. Other measures include the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive and the introduction of a carbon border adjustment system.
The measures cover various areas, including clean energy, renovation in the construction sector, offshore wind energy and a circular industrial strategy. An action plan for the circular economy focuses on sectors such as textiles, construction, electronics and plastics. The mobility strategy includes the installation of charging stations for alternative fuels and stricter emission standards for vehicles.
In addition, the plan includes a review of agricultural policy to support the environmental goals and an EU strategy on biodiversity by 2030. Finally, the document emphasises the integration of sustainability into all EU policies and the strengthening of the EU's leading role in international climate and biodiversity negotiations. A just transition mechanism and a strategy for sustainable finance should support these goals.
