The study "Circular Economy in Family Businesses - Challenges, Solutions and Recommendations for Action" examines how a circular economy can be implemented and promoted in German family businesses and which specific challenges can arise from this context. The study was compiled by the Family Business Foundation in collaboration with the 2° Foundation and various Fraunhofer Institutes.
The biggest challenges include financial investment, a lack of regulatory framework conditions and the need for a change in corporate culture. The creation of networks and collaborations, the use of funding programmes and the development of specific business models that focus on reuse and recycling can help to overcome these hurdles.
In conclusion, the study emphasises that the circular economy offers not only ecological but also economic benefits and can contribute to securing the long-term competitiveness of family businesses.
