The Circular Economy Forum Austria is a founding member of the new „Alliance against Food Waste and Poverty“, which was launched by Die Tafel Austria together with 36 members. The alliance brings together stakeholders from agriculture, trade, industry, logistics, the social sector, science and civil society to reduce food waste along the entire value chain while effectively combating food poverty.
For the Circular Economy Forum Austria, this participation is a logical step: the alliance combines ecological, economic and social perspectives and shows that the circular economy can only be effective in the food system through cross-sector cooperation. The better utilisation of surpluses, the avoidance of waste and the development of structural solutions are key levers for a sustainable, resilient and fair food economy.
The Alliance is already planning a first summit in Vienna in May, at which challenges, best practices and concrete implementation plans will be discussed. The Circular Economy Forum Austria will contribute its expertise on systemic transformation, cooperation and circular solutions.
