On 14 and 15 May 2024, the Circular Economy and Production Technologies Forum organised by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The venue was the Kulturhaus Brotfabrik in Vienna, and the event was organised by the GPK and the Austrian Society for Environment and Technology (ÖGUT) took over. The moderation took over Barbara Ruhsmann (ÖGUT).
After the opening by Henriette Spyra (BMK) and Karin Tausz (FFG), current research and development activities in the areas of circular economy and production technologies were presented. These were based on the RTI initiatives of the BMK and other funding programmes.
Participation & Programme
Around 130 people took part in the Ankersaal on day 1 and around 70 on day 2. 69 and 53 online participants followed the event via livestream. The varied programme included presentations of innovative research projects, panel discussions and interactive project presentations in small groups.
Vision for the future: circular economy in Austria
In order to significantly reduce the excessive consumption of limited resources, far-reaching changes in the social and economic system are required. The aim is to implement a circular economy strategy and promote a digital and green transformation in Austria. The BMK's RTI focus area "Circular economy and production technologies" is focussed on the development of a comprehensive circular economy and circular production.
Call for proposals 2024: Promotion of innovative projects
One key measure is the annual national call for proposals "Circular Economy and Production Technologies", which is open from April to September 2024. It supports practical and cooperative research projects. It also promotes knowledge exchange, networking and cooperation between business, science and administration in order to create synergies and successful collaborations.
The Circular Economy and Production Technologies Forum made a significant contribution to achieving these goals and bringing together relevant players from various sectors.
