Urban Pioneers Community of the City of Vienna

Managed by the municipality of Vienna, this Pilot project places the principles of the circular economy, efficient resource utilisation and community use at the centre of energy consumption in the urban environment. Vienna's Krieau neighbourhood is experimenting with solar energy and the redistribution of surplus energy generated by its solar panels. Residents use the solar power generated by their own panels for their household energy and either sell surplus energy to their neighbours via a blockchain platform or store it for their own future energy needs.
