DESCRIPTION:The Circular Economy & Green Industry Week 2026\, November 2-4\, organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)\, will bring together policymakers\, business leaders\, financial institutions\, international organisations\, researchers and innovators to advance more circular\, resource-efficient and competitive industries. \nCircular Economy Forum Austria is proud to cooperate with UNIDO in promoting practical implementation\, international knowledge exchange and stronger partnerships for circular industrial transformation\, co-curating Day 3 ‘The Austrian Circular Economy Ecosystem – From Governance to Scale and Culture’\, November 4\, with ICEP. \nA special milestone will take place on the opening day\, 2 November 2026: UNIDO and the Circular Economy Forum Austria will sign a Joint Declaration\, formally institutionalising their cooperation. The agreement will provide a foundation for closer collaboration between UNIDO’s international expertise and Austria’s growing circular economy ecosystem—with the shared ambition of translating circular economy strategies into concrete action. \nUnder the theme “Shaping the Future of Industry: Circular\, Cleaner\, Competitive”\, the three-day programme will combine high-level dialogue\, sector-specific discussions\, technical workshops and partnership-building. Topics will include circular construction\, plastics\, textiles\, electronics\, critical minerals\, industrial symbiosis\, circular design\, Digital Product Passports\, financing and circular metrics. \nJoin us at the Vienna International Centre and help shape the next phase of circular and sustainable industrial development.

Im Fokus stehen die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit Europas und seine strategische Resilienz\, die Entwicklung künstlicher Intelligenz und digitaler Innovationen\, neue Ansätze der Circular Economy sowie der Baubetrieb der Zukunft. \nIn Kooperation mit dem ASI kuratiert das Circular Economy Forum Austria auch heuer wieder die EXPERTS TALKS CIRCULAR ECOONOMY . \n„Rethinking Value: Standards für eine zirkuläre Ressourcenwirtschaft“ am 17. November 2026 von 09:00 bis 13:00 Uhr beleuchtet\, welche Rolle Standardisierung für eine resiliente\, ressourceneffiziente und wettbewerbsfähige Kreislaufwirtschaft spielt und wie sie den Erhalt von Materialwerten entlang des gesamten Lebenszyklus unterstützen kann. Das Event rückt deshalb nicht Recycling als isolierte Lösung in den Mittelpunkt\, sondern betrachtet die zirkuläre Ressourcenwirtschaft als systemische Transformation entlang des gesamten Lebenszyklus. \nIm Fokus stehen unter anderem die erweiterte Herstellerverantwortung (EPR)\, Qualitätsstandards für Recycling- und Sekundärmaterialien\, Klassifizierung und Rückverfolgbarkeit von Materialströmen – etwa über den Digital Product Passport –\, digitale Systeme zur Material- und Ressourcenverfolgung einschließlich der Schnittstellen zu BIM sowie Urban Mining als strategischer Beitrag zu Versorgungssicherheit. \nDie Leitfrage für die zahlreichen teilnehmenden Expert:innen lautet: Wie kann Standardisierung dazu beitragen\, den Abfall von heute zur wertvollen Ressource einer zirkulären Wirtschaft zu machen – und welche Voraussetzungen braucht es für ein tragfähiges industrielles System? \nDaraus ergeben sich folgende Fragestellungen zur Diskussion: \n\nWelche Rolle spielen Daten\, Transparenz und Rückverfolgbarkeit für funktionierende Produkt- und Materialkreisläufe?\nWie lassen sich Qualität\, Vertrauen und Vergleichbarkeit in zirkulären Materialströmen sicherstellen?\nWie kann Normung dazu beitragen\, zirkuläre Geschäftsmodelle und Ressourcenstrategien in die industrielle Breite zu bringen?\n\nZiel der diesjährigen Experts Talks Circular Economy ist es\, die größten Barrieren auf dem Weg zu einer funktionierenden Kreislaufwirtschaft sichtbar zu machen\, Normungsbedarfe zu identifizieren und aufzuzeigen\, wie Circular Economy als Teil einer resilienten und wettbewerbsfähigen Industriestrategie konkret umgesetzt werden kann.

SUMMARY:Circular Construction for Sustainable Cities: A Nordic–Austrian Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:A curated Nordic–Austrian Roundtable on circular construction and urban transformation\nOur third collaboration with Nordic representatives on “Circular Sustainable Cities of the Future” will bring together selected decision-makers from Finland\, Sweden\, Denmark\, Norway and Austria. \nThe exclusive event will provide a forum for exchanging practical experience on circular construction and exploring concrete opportunities for future cooperation. Its focus will be on progressing from pilot projects to scalable business models\, public procurement approaches and market frameworks that facilitate higher-value circular strategies in the built environment – including reuse\, refurbishment\, circular deconstruction and secondary material markets. \nThis responds to the observation that countries with more mature circular economy frameworks have already developed strong lighthouse projects and higher market penetration in circular construction practices.
