The report \"Flagship Projects of the Bioeconomy in Austria\" highlights projects and initiatives that are driving forward the bioeconomy in Austria. The bioeconomy aims to replace fossil resources with renewable raw materials and thus contribute to a sustainable, resource-conserving economy. This requires an integrated approach involving various sectors and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One important project is the promotion of a consumption pattern that facilitates the more efficient use of resources and the extension of the lifespan of products. Repairs and the sharing economy play an important role here. The aim is to reduce resource consumption by promoting repair services and expanding platforms for sharing goods. Public procurement is also emphasised as a role model for promoting sustainable products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other projects include supporting regional value creation through the bioeconomy and promoting innovations in the field of renewable resources. The aim is to utilise biogenic residues and by-products efficiently and to establish regional logistics structures. Investments in research and technology development are intended to create new, sustainable products and processes that further reduce dependence on fossil raw materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transformation towards a bio-based and circular economy is to be accelerated through targeted funding measures and the creation of suitable framework conditions. The lighthouse projects described are intended to serve as role models and show how a sustainable bioeconomy can be implemented in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
