Stuchtey gave an overview of the state of the circular economy in Germany at the time, highlighting the benefits and challenges. For this purpose, the scenario of the current development (at that time) is compared with a scenario of the circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The potential for significant cost savings that can be achieved by optimising the circular economy is cited as a key economic advantage of the circular economy. For example, households could reduce up to 80 % of their expenditure in the areas of mobility, housing and food. In addition, a switch to the circular economy could increase annual GDP growth in Germany by 0.3 percentage points, while reducing the cost of primary resources and negative externalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Germany is already the market leader in many of the technologies required for the circular economy. However, the country has not yet fully utilised the opportunities available.
